Why You're Still Dehydrated Even When You Drink Water

Many people carry a water bottle all day but still feel tired, foggy, or sluggish. That’s because hydration is more complex than just fluid intake—it also involves how well your body uses that fluid.

Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium help cells absorb and retain water. Without them, you might be flushing water through your system too quickly. Hydration can also be compromised by caffeine, alcohol, low-sodium diets, or excessive sweating without proper replenishment.

To stay truly hydrated, include mineral-rich foods like leafy greens, citrus, cucumbers, and even a pinch of sea salt in your meals. Consider adding electrolyte tablets or drinks on active or hot days. Drinking slowly, especially with food, also helps with fluid retention.

True hydration is a mix of water, minerals, and absorption. It fuels better focus, digestion, skin health, and energy. If you're drinking all day but still feel off, it might be time to rethink your hydration strategy.
